Abbott One of the Best Places to Work for Scientists
Abbott has again been named to The Scientist magazine's "Best
Places to Work in Industry," this year ranking sixth among companies with
more than 5,000 employees. Abbott has earned a spot on the list six times since
its inception in 2003.
The Scientist's editors compile the prestigious list based on the
results of a detailed survey of scientists at life-science companies and
research institutions worldwide. Respondents to the survey were asked to assess
their working environment according to 45 criteria in eight different
categories, including job satisfaction, benefits, training and integrity. Room
for intellectual and career development, a family-friendly environment and less
hierarchy topped respondent's priorities. Additionally, survey respondents
cited the importance of job security, stability and growth as desirable
attributes of their workplace.
