Diversity & Inclusion

Employee Networks

Abbott's employee networks are a vital part of our diversity and inclusion strategy. More than 7,700 employees participate in Abbott's six employee networks, which support the building of more diverse leadership within Abbott. Networks include LA VOICE Network (Hispanic/Latino), Women Leaders in Action, Black Business Network, Asian Leadership and Cultural Network, PRIDE Network (gay/lesbian) and the Part-Time Network. Their work enhances Abbott's efforts to remove barriers and build leadership competencies for all employees at all levels in the organization.

While each network has its own goals and initiatives, their common focus areas include building and promoting a diverse and inclusive work environment and the professional growth, development and education of participants.

Each network is open to all employees, regardless of ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation.

Mentoring

Mentoring, both formal and informal, is prevalent across Abbott and an important element of our inclusive culture. While our many networking events and relationship-oriented culture support informal mentoring, Abbott's formal mentoring program offers employees the opportunity to pair with a fellow employee in a structured year-long developmental partnership. Through this web-based program, protégés and mentors from across the organization are matched based on the qualities, competencies and experiences they seek in a partner. Participants benefit from each others' experiences and expertise in a number of ways, including developing or enhancing skills or competencies, sharing institutional knowledge, navigating the organization, forming networks and making important business connections.

Eligible Abbott U.S. employees may participate as mentors, protégés - or both. The program (including mentor/protégé matching and training) is accessible online, and employees may enroll at any time.
